New Members Elected to Board at Annual Meeting
At the Annual Meeting held January 19, 2012, four new members were elected to the Red Wing Arts Association board.
Fritz Anderson is a former businessman who retired to Red Wing. His wife, Jean, is a regular volunteer at the Gift Shop. Fritz helped with the move to Noah's Art and other volunteer projects.
Sandy Giles is a former board member and past president. She has been the RWAA volunteer coordinator for several years. Sandy displayed beautiful fabric art in the Holiday Boutique and makes inexpensive children's bead bracelets.
Peg Hansen is a retired RW art teacher. She helped start the Annual Student Art Show and brought student art for display. Peg is a Master Gardener and active on the Garden Tour committee.
Michael Way is a new resident of Red Wing. He has experience in event coordinating and planning for major art and sports organizations in New York City. Michael is the new priest at Christ Episcopal Church in Red Wing.
Presenting the Arts
The Red Wing Arts Association is the oldest arts association in Red Wing, originating in 1952 as an interactive arts educational program. We are committed to a focus on the strong support of, and being a catalyst for, an expanding and dynamic arts community Red Wing and the surrounding area.
Our support of the arts incorporates all forms of the fine, applied and performing arts at every level within our community. It is our belief that a personal engagement in the creative process, and active exchange of ideas, and a commitment to diversity in the arts are mainstays of our culture.
The RWAA proudly serves our community through artistic leadership, interactive education, and innovation programming. We are a volunteer,
non-profit organization that supports emerging, established, and enduring artists and serves as a catalyst for a strong, sustainable, and dynamic arts community.
