Fall Festival of the Arts
A juried weekend art fair, displaying almost 100 artists, is held outdoors the second weekend in October in the center of historic downtown Red Wing and draws thousands of visitors each year.

Call for Entries — Application Form
The Annual Fall Festival of the Arts attracts over 8,000 visitors to view the
juried exhibition of fine arts and crafts at the height of fall color. In addition
to the artists who present high quality work, there is a children’s area,
musical entertainment and a variety of food. Red Wing Arts Association
invites your application for the 42nd Fall Festival of the Arts held in historic
Red Wing, Minnesota.

Saturday, October 11, 2008 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Sunday October 12, 2008 10 am to 4:30 pm
Criteria
The show is open to artists doing original work only, in all media. (No
imports, mass produced items or kit produced designs will
be allowed.) The composition of the jury changes each year, and their
decision is final.
Advertising and Promotion
This show takes place at the height of the fall color season, and every
attempt will be made to advertise and promote the show. RWAA publishes
a directory of artists including a short biography and illustration of their
work from a submitted slide. This directory is distributed to over 8,000
households. Accepted artists are provided with postcard invitations.
Booth Limitations
Space will be approximately 10 feet by 12 feet. Every effort will be made
to maintain balance of media and high visibility for all exhibit spaces.
Awards
Awards will be presented in recognition of the highest creativity and quality
shown by exhibitors within their media. Presentation will be made at the
Artist Dinner Saturday evening.
Check-In
Check-in and set-up is Friday 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, and Saturday from 7:00
am to 8:30 am. Exhibits must be ready for the start of the show by 9:00
am on Saturday. Coffee and rolls will be available to exhibitors.
Application Procedures
Please submit one slide of your booth and four slides representing what
you intend to display, along with a S.A.S.E. For example, if your category
is fiber and you will be displaying clothing and fiber jewelry, you must
submit at least one jewelry slide. The purpose of the booth slide is to
confirm you have a professional display and are adequately prepared for
an outdoor show.
Please Note: Your application will be juried SOLELY upon
the slides you send. Make sure they are of good quality
and are representative of your work.
Entry Fee and Deadline
Enclose fees with the entry form. There is a non-refundable $15.00 jury/
application fee. Exhibitor show fee is $160. Members of the RWAA at
the time the application is received pay the discounted fee of $145.
Deadline for application is June 2, 2008. Please send separate checks
for the jury/application fee and exhibitor show fee. Makes checks payable
to RWAA. Jury/application fee will be cashed upon receipt.
Exhibitors show fee is returned if artist is not selected to exhibit.
Notification will be sent by July 1st. Exhibitor can receive a full refund
of exhibitor’s show fee if RWAA is notified, in writing, of cancellation by
September 9, 2008. Show will be held rain or shine. No refunds will be
given due to inclement weather.
Exhibitor Responsibilities
Artists themselves, or immediate family members, must be present to
exhibit. No agents or representatives will be permitted in place of the
artist.
Artists must exhibit both days. Failure to display both days may result in
disqualification from subsequent festivals.
Artists must supply their own props and display materials. All extra
equipment must be kept out of sight. This is a outdoor fair and
displays must be sturdy and weighted for outdoor conditions.
Exhibitors are responsible for collecting and reporting their own sales tax
and must have a Minnesota ID. The Minnesota ST-19 Certificate
of sales tax compliance must be returned with the application
(see insert).
Sale, discount, and other tacky signs will not be tolerated. The officials’
decisions are final and you may be asked to remove them or leave the
show.
The Red Wing Arts Association is not responsible for loss or damage to
artists’ property.
