Man's Best Friend - A Trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art
Leave at 9:15 am; return by 4:30 pm
"A dog is the only thing on earth that will love you more than you love yourself." Man's fascination with our canine friends goes back to the beginning of time. Enjoy a close look at how artists have depicted dogs and their personalities in art.
An hour long lecture, "The Dog in Art from the Renaissance to Today," by Peter Bowron from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas will provide insight into how artists have incorporated man's best friend into their artwork over the centuries.
After the lecture, enjoy lunch on your own at the D'Amico and Sons gourmet restaurant in the museum. Then enjoy a custom our with a guide who will walk us through the museum and explain a variety of animal-related artworks.
After the tour, enjoy an hour self-touring and a visit to the MIA's unique gift shop.
